Mayor thanks everyone who helped raise charity cash

The Mayor of Sandwell has thanked everyone who attended the Wednesbury Community Awards event for raising more than £350 for his charities.

Mayor Ahmadul Haque MBE said the money would go to two very important health causes - Midlands Air Ambulance Charity; and Your Trust Charity, run by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, specifically raising money for cancer services and research.

The £355.75 was raised at the Wednesbury Community Awards held at Wednesbury Town Hall in March through a raffle and donations.

Wednesbury councillors, led by town lead member Councillor Pam Hughes, presented the cheque to the Mayor at the Mayor's Parlour in Oldbury. The Mayor said:

"I would like to thank everyone in Wednesbury who has generously donated to my charities, which both do very important work in the local community."
