Mayor unveils new seating at Stourbridge Town Hall

The Mayor of Dudley has officially unveiled new seating at Stourbridge Town Hall, thanks to investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The improvements include new seats for the hall's moveable tiered seating, along with the installation of motorised movers that make it easier and safer for staff to reposition seating units.

The project received just under £80,000 in UKSPF funding across two separate improvement schemes. The funding has helped modernise seating that was more than 20 years old and had fallen into a poor condition.

The upgraded seating will improve comfort for audiences attending the venue's busy programme of events, while the new motorised system reduces the need for staff to manually move the seating.

Councillor Pete Lowe, Mayor of Dudley, said: "It's fantastic to see these improvements at Stourbridge Town Hall. The refreshed seating looks great and will make a real difference for everyone visiting the venue.

"It’ll make for a bostin' night out for local audiences and shows how investment can help ensure our much-loved community venues continue to thrive."

Kelly Martin, Manager of Stourbridge Town Hall, said: "The difference these improvements will make for our audiences is brilliant. Our previous seating was more than 20 years old and had seen a great deal of use over the years.

"The new cushions and backs are much more comfortable, helping to enhance visitors' experience when they come to enjoy a show, concert or event.

"The motorised movers will also make a huge difference behind the scenes, allowing our team to set up and reconfigure the space much more efficiently and safely."
