Midsummer Celebration to celebrate the work of local Hospice with community

The Mary Stevens Hospice are extending an invite to their community to join them for their ‘Midsummer Celebration’ event.

The Mary Stevens Hospice provides free, specialist end of life care to members of the Black Country and Dudley Borough who are facing a life limiting illness.

This care is provided 24/7, 365 and the Hospice are inviting their community to join together to celebrate this work and outstanding care that the Hospice provides. 

This uplifting evening will also provide the opportunity to reflect and remember through with poetry and a time to light candles in memory of loved ones.

Dr Mike Blaber will be the special guest at the celebration, a specialist in Palliative Care with the Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals Trust. Mike will be giving a short address to encourage and inspire staff, volunteers, patients, carers and supporters alike.
 
The evening will feature live music from The Mary Stevens Hospice choir and Emily Carew-Gibbs, a showing of the ‘No Barriers Here’ film and words on how the Hospice is working to promote diversity and inclusion when it comes to people gaining access to end of life care. Keith Judson, Spiritual Care Coordinator at The Mary Stevens Hospice said: 

“Our midsummer Celebration is open to all and during the evening we’re planning to celebrate our work in local communities, as we update supporters on new initiatives. 

"Alongside this will be news of the ongoing and faithful work undertaken in Day Services and our In-Patient Unit. 

"It promises to be an uplifting event and we are looking forward to welcoming our community for an evening of celebration.” 

There is no need to book for the Midsummer Celebration, please arrive for a 7pm start on Thursday 21st June 2022. The event will be held at St Mary’s Church, Rectory Road, Stourbridge, DY8 2HA.
