More pop-up tips will be coming to the north of the borough, with Dudley Council to invest an additional £150,000 to improve waste services for residents.
The move will double the existing provision, with pop-up tips set to take to take place four times in every month.
In March, Dudley Council made an announcement that fortnightly pop-up tips would be returning to the borough.
This additional investment will see the service alternate between the Lister Road depot in Dudley and The Northway Depot in Sedgley for the first four Saturdays of every month.
Over recent months, the council has continued to explore with Wolverhampton City Council the possibility of Dudley borough residents using its Anchor Lane Household Waste and Recycling Centre. The city council has, however, said it is not currently in a position to provide access to Dudley residents.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “We know the pop-up tips have proved extremely popular since their launch and we are delighted to inform residents we are now in a position to to invest more and expand their frequency.
“The additional pop-up tips will make it easier for even more residents in the north of the borough to use this much needed a waste and recycling service.
“We are grateful for the ongoing conversation with Wolverhampton City Council over the possible use of their Anchor Lane site, and while it’s disappointing that we don’t have a joint solution at present, I would like to reassure residents that we will continue to work on a positive long-term solution.
“All slots at the pop-up tips will need to be booked and its important residents who have reserved slots but no longer need them, cancel them. This improves capacity and reduces wait times for other tip users.”
People can book a slot by visiting Dudley Council’s website.
