Mike Wood MP will host his annual Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeship Fair on the 10th April, this year held at Wombourne Civic Centre.
This year the annual event, which the MP for Kingswinford & South Staffordshire has organised every year since being first elected in 2015, will take on a new format, also offering opportunities for those looking to make the first steps in their career with apprenticeship opportunities.
The careers fair will offer those looking for a new job, career or training opportunity the chance to meet face-to-face with a range of recruiters and training providers.
There will be opportunities available for people of all ages and the event will run from 1pm till 4pm.
A wide range of employers from a variety of sectors will be present on the day, with leading local training providers also set to be in attendance to advertise vacancies and answer questions about the different training opportunities they have available.
The event is free to attend and will be held at The Civic Centre, Gravel Hill, WV5 9HA in Wombourne. It is being sponsored by the Tipton & Coseley Building Society and also supported by the local Department for Work & Pensions who will be on hand to offer information about employment opportunities for younger people.
Mike Wood MP said: “I am delighted to be bringing my Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeship Fair back for another year, and to be hosting it in Wombourne, right at the heart of the constituency.
"The venue is conveniently located on a bus route, making it easily accessible from Stourbridge, Wordsley, Kingswinford, Wall Heath and Wolverhampton, and I would strongly encourage everyone who can to attend.
"While overall unemployment in our area has fallen slightly over the past year, we have seen a rise in the number of 18 to 24-year-olds claiming unemployment benefits.
"Securing that first step into work can be particularly challenging for young people, which makes it all the more important to bring opportunities directly to them through this event.
"With a wide range of employers and training providers attending, this is an excellent opportunity for anyone considering a career change, or taking their first step on the career ladder, to come along and explore what’s on offer.”
Richard Groom, chief customer officer at the Tipton & Coseley Building Society, added: “Mike's fair is a fantastic platform for introducing people to training and employment opportunities across the local area, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring this event.
"As a local building society, now proudly serving the community from our new branch in Codsall, we see the value in bringing residents and employers closer together and making connections that could shape their future.
"Whether people are just starting their careers, exploring different industries, or considering a brand new direction, we’d encourage them to join us at Wombourne Civic Centre for what promises to be an exciting and inspiring day."
