MP wants free travel for over 60s

Dudley North MP Ian Austin is calling for free bus passes for people across the West Midlands over the age 60.

The Labour MP said it was unfair that while residents of Scotland, Wales and London can travel on buses when they turn 60, people in the West Midlands must wait till they’re 65.

Mr Austin said the West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, should be "fighting for a fairer share" for people in the region.

Transport for West Midlands said free bus travel for people aged 65 and over is provided through a national scheme funded by central Government. Wales and Scotland, have their own national Government schemes.
