Staff at Himley Hall and Park are trotting into summer with a fun-filled competition to mark the 12-month anniversary of the woodland play area.
The popular play equipment, which Dudley Council installed at Himley Hall last summer, features a beautifully designed carriage with four much-loved horse springers.
Throughout the school holidays, families can collect a special horse-themed colouring sheet from the hall’s Coffee Lounge. Sheets should be handed back to the café, coloured with a suggested horse name, by 31 August.
Families are encouraged to share their children’s entries on social media using #HorsesofHimley
The Mayor of Dudley will select four winning entries, each of whom will receive a woodland cuddly toy and the unique honour of naming one of the horses, in September.
Families can also enjoy events and activities at the park this summer, with the ever-popular free dinosaur trail running throughout.
Dudley’s healthy communities’ team will be visiting Himley with fun activities on Thursday 24 and 31 July and 14, 21 and 28 August.
Paperback Theatre will present Wind in the Willows on 5 August and Halesowen College’s CEDRIC the bus will be on site for a few hours on 26 August.
Councillor Pete Lee, The Mayor of Dudley, said: “This is a wonderful way to celebrate a year of joy and play at Himley.
“We’re excited to see the creativity of our young visitors and to give them a chance to leave a lasting mark on the park.”
A special naming ceremony will be held to celebrate the winners and their newly named equine friends later in the year.
