Netherton park gets new play equipment

Children and families visiting Netherton Park will be able to make use of the new roundabout, swings and multi-play units for both toddler and junior age groups thanks to £59,000 worth of funding.

The area, which also features new safety surfacing, was completed after the council successfully bid for money from FCC Communities Foundation. Daniel Fildes, parks development manager, said:

"The new equipment looks amazing and I’m delighted we have been able to get this finished in time for the warmer spring and summer months.

"This investment is part of a number of improvements planned for parks over the coming months and years to make sure we have green, vibrant places for people to spend time outdoors."

Richard Johnson, from the Friends of Netherton Park, added: "This is such a wonderful park and is used by a wide range of young people and their families. New equipment like this means that the park will continue to be popular with children and families."

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for communities through the Landfill Communities Fund. The Friends group is looking for new volunteers.
