New digital skills centre set to empower Bloxwich community

A brand-new digital skills and business incubation centre in the heart of Bloxwich will open its doors to the public on Monday 8 September.

Located in what was once the Post Office on Market Place, 'Bloxwich Launchpad' is a new and innovative facility that aims to provide a space for local people to access the latest IT technology and training after public consultation showed a need for better digital support in the Walsall market town.

Following a series of bitesize sessions on topics including introductions to Microsoft software and advice and guidance on completing online job applications and CV writing, the centre is set to open with a programme of support tailored to meet local needs.

A range of local delivery partners, a full list of which can be found here: https://bloxwich-launchpad.walsall.gov.uk/our-partners, are on board to deliver specialist training and information sessions on-site.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader of Walsall Council, said: “Bloxwich Launchpad will be a great asset for local people who need better access to IT equipment and the internet.

“It’s been great to see the former Post Office transformed over the past couple of years and I look forward to opening the doors in the coming weeks.”

The centre offers a bright, clean and welcoming environment which has been designed to be fully accessible as well as meeting Net Zero requirements. There are 16 public-access computers, laptops, meeting rooms, accessible facilities and kitchen space for refreshments.

Upstairs, the business incubation centre offers hireable desk space, co-working facilities and hybrid meeting rooms. It also boasts a makerspace and reprographics room equipped with high quality printing equipment including a 3D printer and mug press for creative enterprises.

Bloxwich Launchpad is accessed through the market in the centre of Bloxwich with ample parking nearby, close to bus stations and a short walk from Bloxwich railway station.

The centre will be open from Monday 8 September and the public is invited to drop in and find out what services are available; more information can also be found at bloxwich-launchpad.walsall.gov.uk
