New housing hub for tenants to open in Dudley town centre

The hub, sited in St James’s Road, will open three days a week and will allow tenants to report repairs, pay rent and hand in keys.

Visitors will also be able to discuss a rent account or a housing application, speak to the leaseholder team and report anti-social behaviour.

The hub at 3 St James’s Road opens today, and will be open on:

  • Monday from 9am to 1pm;
  • Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm; and
  • Friday from 9am to 1pm.

Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for housing and homelessness, said: “We already have housing hubs in operation in Brierley Hill, Halesowen and Netherton and they have proved popular for residents who still prefer to speak to someone face to face.

“We are delighted to be able to extend this service into Dudley, and from Monday tenants will be able to use it and gain quick help with a number of housing issues.”

The council’s homelessness support service is also relocating to the same building in St James’s Road from Monday. The service is currently based at the former Dudley Council Plus walk-in centre at 259 Castle Street.

This location will close permanently on June 27 at 3pm. Anyone who is in urgent need of emergency housing should present at 3 St James's Road from 30 June between the new, extended hours of 9am and 5pm.

The homelessness response team can also be reached via telephone by calling Dudley Council Plus on 0330 555 2345.

People who feel they are at risk of becoming homeless and need advice should also call 0330 555 2345 at the earliest opportunity for support. The Dudley Council Plus walk-in centre closed in January following a decline in visits.

Residents can now self-serve for many council services through the council’s online platform, MyDudley. This is the quickest and easiest way to request council services or report an issue and is available online, anytime and from any device.

For those who can’t get online, or need more help, residents can call advisors at the call centre on 0300 555 2345. More information on the support for people experiencing homelessness is available on the Dudley Council website.
