Next round of the Big Switch scheme now open

Cllr Damian Corfield, cabinet member for communities.

Dudley borough residents are being invited to sign up to a collective energy switching scheme which could help them to save hundreds of pounds on their bills.

Working in partnership with Dudley Council, Big Community Switch provides guidance and support to residents to simplify the energy-switching process.

The scheme provides a practical solution to ease the financial burden on households in an uncertain energy market.
It secures competitive tariffs with trusted suppliers, giving residents more control over costs, and offers 100% renewable electricity.

Suppliers compete for the opportunity to offer households the lowest energy tariff, and there’s no need to compare different tariffs as everyone registered receives a personal offer.

The tariff secured in the most recent auction is around £260 cheaper than the price cap and will be fixed for 12 months. The Big Community Switch is simple, hassle-free, and comes with no obligation to switch providers.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for communities, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our borough residents to explore better energy options and potentially save money on their bills.

“It’s a simple, stress-free process and there’s no obligation to switch so it’s worth registering to see if you could make a saving.”

George Frost, the spokesperson for Big Community Switch, said: “Rising energy costs have placed a significant burden on households. This scheme offers a practical starting point for residents to make an informed decision about switching their energy supplier.

“By coming together as a community, people in Dudley borough can access tariffs offered through the scheme that might not be available to them individually.”

For more information and a link to register, visit the Big Switch page on the Dudley Council website. The auction runs until 31 October.

Residents will need to have their current tariff details and fuel usage (shown on their most recent bill) to hand.

Anyone who is in debt with their energy bills is advised to speak to the council’s energy advice line before registering to switch. They can be contacted on 01384 817086.
