Nursing home opens new micro library for residents

Staff at a Dudley nursing home have changed a Covid meeting pod into a mini library to allow residents a chance to take some time out and read their favourite book.

During the pandemic, Netherton Green Nursing Home in Bowling Green Road installed the pod, which allowed residents to see their loved ones through a partition.

Now it's been converted into a micro library, with residents and their families congratulating the home for turning a negative into a positive and focussing on improving mental health.

The new venture was officially opened this month by local ward councillor, Damian Corfield who was accompanied by Stourbridge MP, Suzanne Webb. Cllr Corfield said:

"Throughout lockdown this pod was used as an interaction hub for residents to speak to their loved ones safely from behind a screen. Now with the innovation of Activities Coordiantor, Karen Winmill and her staff it's been converted into a place where residents can take time out.

"It was a privilege to be asked to carry out the Grand opening as their local Councillor."
