Olivier Award Winning Musical Comes To Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre have announced that feel-good musical, Mamma Mia! will arrive at the venue in 2018 as part of its first ever UK tour.

Taking to the stage between February 6th to 24th, tickets for the show will go on sale, exclusively to Friends Of The Grand, from 10am on Wednesday 15th February 2017. Non-friends can book from 11am on Friday 17th February.

From West End to global phenomenon, the London production has now been seen by more than 10% of the entire UK population. It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China.

The show features the music of ABBA and was made into a BAFTA award winning film in 2008. Creator and Producer, Judy Craymer, said:

“We are delighted to be bringing Mamma Mia! to Wolverhampton for the first time as part of the UK Tour. We hope that audiences will enjoy the sunny and uplifting story, and the music of ABBA; we can’t wait to share the fun!”

Adrian Jackson, Chief Executive and Artistic Director at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre added:

“It is very exciting to be able to bring Mamma Mia! to the city. The Grand has built a strong reputation presenting some of the biggest West End and Broadway productions to the people of Wolverhampton and the Black Country.

"The inclusion of this show to our 2018 season will not only bring three weeks of sunshine to the month of February, but will give audiences an indication of the calibre of entertainment they can expect in the near future.”

Tickets will be on sale through the theatre's Box Office, either by calling 01902 42 92 12, visiting in person or online at grandtheatre.co.uk.
