Open day to celebrate Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre anniversary

Activities including swimming, badminton and soft play will be on offer for free as Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre celebrates its first anniversary with an open day.

The open day will take place on Saturday from 10:30am to 5:00pm, marking a successful first twelve months of operation for the £18 million facility in Dudley town centre.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of group fitness activities in the studio and immersive spin cycle room. In the swimming pools, free swimming will be available for all ages.

Free 30-minute sessions of badminton and table tennis will also run in the sports hall from 3pm to 5pm, while free soft play sessions in the state-of-the-art Planet Play suite are on offer for thirty youngsters between 1pm and 5pm.

An exclusive discount of 10% on party bookings in the next twelve months will be available for those who attend the soft play area during the open day.

Children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied at all times in the centre by a responsible adult aged 18 years or over during all of the free sessions.

A twelve months for the price of ten discount on the annual Lifestyle membership is also available online until the end of the month. The package offers unlimited access to selected activities at Duncan Edwards, Crystal, Halesowen leisure centres and the Dell Stadium for people aged 16 and over.

People who sign up for a membership during the open day will receive a special DB Leisure goodie bags containing a water bottle, work-out towel and pen. Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

“Duncan Edwards is a fantastic facility and the time has really flown by since it opened last year. I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make it a success, particularly the paying members who are the backbone of the centre.

“For those who haven’t yet paid Duncan Edwards a visit, this open day will be the perfect opportunity to try the centre out. Members will also have the opportunity to take part in the activities as a reward for their loyalty.

Places on the open day can be booked by calling 01384 812800 and selecting option 1. Walk-ins will be available on the day if capacity allows.

There are reserved spaces for members and non-members for the fitness classes, while everything else is open on a first-come-first-served basis.

Customers will have to provide reception staff with their name and contact details to claim the free offer and participate in the activities.
