Performers wanted to light up Christmas switch-on events

Performers from across Dudley borough are being invited to get Christmas off to a great start by performing at events to light up town centres this winter.

Five switch-on events will be taking place in November and December as the borough comes together to welcome the festive season in style.

Council bosses are on the hunt for local performers who are eager to show off their talents in front of three-figure audiences in Halesowen, Stourbridge, Sedgley, Dudley and Brierley Hill.

Singers, dancers, musicians and groups are all welcome to express their interest in taking to the stage at these events, which will begin on Saturday 19 November in Halesowen. A day later, Sedgley will host their lights switch-on spectacular, before Stourbridge’s event the following weekend on Saturday 26 November.

As Advent calendars start to be opened and the final countdown to Christmas Day begins, both Dudley and Brierley Hill will be hosting festive events on Saturday 3 December. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

"The Christmas lights switch-on events are always well supported by residents in our borough towns. We love to showcase local talent and it’s a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people.

"We hope people come along to the events, enjoy the entertainment on offer and show their support for local businesses."

Anyone who is interested in performing at a Christmas lights switch-on event is asked to email capa.events@dudley.gov.uk.

Market stalls will also be available for hire at the events. People who are interested in hiring a stall in Halesowen, Stourbridge or Sedgley should contact info@bescotpromotions.co.uk. If you would like to hire a stall for the Dudley event, email enquiries@tudormarkets.com.
