Play Week Summer Fun Returns To Parks

The events start at Huntingtree Park on August 1st.

The borough’s popular play week event is set to keep children entertained across five borough parks when it returns next month.

Children and young people of all ages are invited to come along and enjoy a range of play activities on offer during play week which starts on Monday August 1.

During the week there will be group games, sports, camp fires, den building, climbing wall, crafts, road awareness, a baby zone, sumo wrestling, assault courses, skittles, tug of war, glass painting and stalls. Most of the activities on offer are free of charge.

Last year’s play week was extremely successful with more than 4,000 people attending over five days.

This year the week starts off at Huntingtree Park, Halesowen, on August 1, Silver Jubilee at Coseley on Tuesday 2. Wednesday’s event will be at Mary Steven’s Park in Stourbridge. Dudley's Priory Park will host on Thursday and the week will conclude on Friday August 5 at The Dell, Brockmoor, Pensnett. Each event starts at noon and finishes at 4pm.

Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“Play week is always hugely popular and sees thousands of children and families come along to enjoy the activities on offer and the open spaces.  It’s a great way for children to enjoy traditional activities, learn new skills, make friends and most importantly have fun.”

Participants just have to complete a basic registration form at each park to join in the fun. Children under eight years need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
