Police are appealing for mobile phone footage and information after a boy aged 17 was injured during disorder in the Merry Hill shopping centre.
Officers were called just after 3:30pm yesterday after an altercation involving two groups.
It’s believed that one group was chased through the centre by another group, and the victim suffered a small cut to the back with a weapon, believed to be a machete, which needed medical attention.
Police received a number of calls from members of the public who were in the centre at the time and still need to hear from anyone who has mobile phone footage, who saw what happened, or who has any other information.
Det Ch Insp Lucy Kirwan, of Dudley Police, said: "We know the fear and alarm that this attack has caused, especially as it took place on a busy shopping day.
"It’s clearly completely unacceptable, and we are working through CCTV and gathering other witness statements as we work to identify all of those involved.
"Extra officers will be patrolling in and around Merry Hill over the weekend to offer reassurance, and speak to anyone with concerns."
