Police arrest 15-year-old for knifepoint carjacking

Police in Dudley arrested three teenagers, including a 15-year-old boy, in the early hours of yesterday morning after a car was stolen at knifepoint in Dudley.

Officers received a 999 call at 2.05am reporting a group of masked men bursting into an address in Summerfields Avenue in Halesowen and threatening the occupants with knives.

The offenders – one of whom held a knife to a man’s neck – made off with a mobile phone, games console and a Mini Cooper having taken the keys.

However, they triggered a road camera 45 minutes later and our response cops picked up the vehicle driving at 60mph in a 30 zone in the Kates Hill area. It was abandoned near Oakham Road before the driver and two passengers ran off through Buffery Park.

A police dogs tracked to a nearby address where three male youths aged 15, 16 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of robbery; all three remain in police custody this morning.

Enquiries are on-going to trace other males understood to have been involved in the offence.
