Police charge suspect after Oldbury death

Police have charged a man with murder after another man, who was discovered with serious injuries in Oldbury died.

Officers found Simon West with head injuries after being assaulted in Wolverhampton Road at around 5:40pm on Saturday 10th December.
 
The 51-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition and sadly died on Wednesday evening. 
 
Arslan Farooq has since been charged with murder and dangerous driving and appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court this week. 
 
The 24-year-old, from Erdington, was remanded into custody to appear before the city's Crown Court next Tuesday. A firce spokesperson said:
 
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Mr West and we'll have specialist officers supporting them at this devastating time.”
 
In a tribute his family said: "Simon was a loving and caring father, brother, son, partner and recently Grandfather. He was loved by everybody he met and will be deeply missed.”
