Police to get tough on town's rough sleepers

Police say they’ll be cracking down on begging and rough sleeping in Stourbridge.

The tough stance follows townspeople’s concerns at the number of people camping on the streets and asking for change.

Officers say they are well aware of the issue which has divided the community. While some shoppers are happy to give generously to the homeless, night-time revellers have complained of feeling intimidated at being asked for money.

Stourbridge MP Margot James said she would closely with the police to help tackle the issue.
