Prime Minister gives thumbs up to winnner of Dudley South MP’s Christmas card

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has praised the work of school children from across Brockmoor, Brierley Hill, Kingswinford, Netherton and Wordsley when he met with Dudley South MP Mike Wood.

Almost 900 children from across the Dudley South constituency entered the MP’s annual Christmas card competition.

The overall winning design – showing a traditional nativity scene – came from Year 3 Brockmoor Primary School student Haniyah Razzaq. Seven runners-up were also chosen by the MP, including:

  • Maddison Evans-Baker, Year 6, Netherton C of E Primary School;
  • Enya Edwards, Year 2, St. Mary's CE (VC) Primary School;
  • Isabella Davies, Year 6, Ashwood Park Primary School;
  • Eden Kelly, Year 6, Fairhaven Primary School;
  • Amelia McGrory, Year 3, Belle Vue Primary School;
  • Clara Kennedy, Year 3, Brierley Hill Primary School; and
  • Megan Simkins, Year 6, Brook Primary School.

Mike said: “Each year I am blown away by the fantastic entries that come in from children at schools right across Dudley South – and I want to give a big thank you to each and every talented young artist who submitted an entry this year.

“As always, picking a winner and runners-up was tough – but Haniyah’s nativity scene entry captured the Christmas message so brilliantly, that it just had to be the winner; and the other seven runners-up were each such great efforts, that they had to be on this year’s runners-up list.”

For the first time, the MP’s Christmas card displaying the designs will be delivered to the country’s new Monarch – King Charles III. Head Teachers, Community Figures, other MP’s and hundreds of local people will also receive the card which will display all 8 winner or runners-up entries.

As well as having their artwork displayed on the card, the children will also receive a gift card sponsored by Merry Hill as a secondary prize.

Secondary prizes sponsored by local attractions include: Family passes to Dudley Zoo & Castle, Black Country Living Museum, and Cadbury World and a glass fusing session at Red House Glass Cone for one lucky runner-up.
