Public Urged To Support Christmas Teenage Market

People are urged to support young business entrepreneurs at a special Christmas themed Teenage Market next week.

Following the success of previous Teenage Markets at the Red House Glass Cone and Dudley town centre, young people will be making their mark at Netherton Arts Centre on Saturday November 12 from 10am to 4pm.

Young people aged 13 to 23 looking for Christmas cash and fame will be selling unique Christmas gifts, home-made refreshments and entertaining visitors with free performances.

One person who has already benefitted from attending Teenage Markets is 15 year old Alice Perry from Dudley Wood. On her Teenage Market experience, Alice, said:

“I came to the Teenage Markets to raise funds for a girl guide rangers trip. I made jewellery and had a stall in Dudley and busked at the Red House Glass Cone. I managed to raise a nice amount towards our trip in a safe and encouraging environment.”

Alice will be attending the forthcoming markets in Netherton and Brierley Hill. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:

“I am delighted that we are running more Teenage Markets. They provide excellent opportunity for young people to learn about marketing, selling and performing, while gaining confidence and independence.

“I would encourage residents to come along to Netherton Arts Centre and support the next generation of business entrepreneurs.”

There will also be Teenage Markets later this month at the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley on Saturday November 26 and Sunday November 27.

The final Teenage Market of the year will be held at the Moor Centre in Brierley Hill on December 10.  This will coincide with Small Business Saturday and the town’s Christmas lights switch on.  A number of stalls and performing slots are still available.

To book a stall or a performing slot, go to The Teenage Markets are being hosted as part of Dudley Council’s Love Your Community focus.
