Rainbow flag to be raised in Dudley

The rainbow flag will be raised in Dudley this week to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

Flags will be raised at Dudley Council House and Dudley Castle during an event at Coronation Gardens in Dudley on Wednesday at 11.30am.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Dudley United in Diversity’. Residents are invited to watch performances, hear readings and see the rainbow flag being raised.

The Mayor of Dudley, Mrs Sue Greenaway will lead the event, which is a celebration of sexual and gender diversities.

Hundreds of events in more than 130 countries across the world take place to mark this significant day within the LGBTQIA+ community. Mayor of Dudley, Mrs Sue Greenaway said:

"This day is a chance to raise awareness of acceptance and promote equality for everyone. As part of the event we will proudly raise the rainbow flags over the Council House and Dudley Castle.

"I hope that people will come along to support the event and celebrate diversity in Dudley borough."
