Residents of Cradley and Wollescote are being reminded they need to be registered if they want to vote in the ward's upcoming by-election.
People have until July 18 to register to vote and must have an approved form of ID if they want to vote at a polling station.
Identification can include a passport or driving licence and some travel cards. A full list is available on the council’s website.
Anyone who does not have one of the approved forms of ID can apply for a free voter authority certificate. The deadline for applications is 5pm on July 26. Kevin O’Keefe, Dudley Council chief executive and electoral returning officer, said:
"If people want to vote in the by-election they need to be registered. It’s quick and easy to do online. I’d also like to remind people about the new national rules around voter ID.
"There’s lots of information on our website about what is acceptable ID and what to do if you haven’t got any. There are lots of options for people."
People can find further details on the elections at dudley.gov.uk.
