Residents reminded they can pay bills from home

Residents are reminded they can pay council bills from the safety of their own home by simply signing up to pay by direct debit.

By signing up residents agree for payments to be taken directly from their bank accounts every month, making it quicker, easier and safer to pay.

Residents can also pay bills over the phone via the council’s automated telephone service on 0300 555 7000. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for commercial and customer services, said:

“Tens of thousands of Dudley residents already choose to pay their council bills this way and I would encourage others to do the same.

“As the coronavirus crisis continues, our self-service payment kiosks are still unavailable at Dudley Council Plus, and we know many residents are choosing to pay their bills in shops or their local post offices.

“By setting up a direct debit, you can avoid the hassle of paying over the counter and it can all be set up from the safety of your own home.”

People can choose to pay their housing rent, council tax or business rates by direct debit by going to dudley.gov.uk or calling Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.
