People across Dudley borough are being urged to register to vote in advance of local elections which will take place on 7 May.
The deadline to register to vote is 11.59pm on 20 April, which can be done online. People who wish to request postal voting must do so by 5pm on 21 April.
Poll cards will be delivered to borough households between late March and early April.
People are also reminded that they will need photo identification such as a driver’s licence, passport or some travel passes, if they want to vote in person at a polling station.
People who do not have photo ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, which can be used at the polls in the same way. People can still vote by postal ballot without the need for any photo ID.
Chief executive of Dudley Council, Balvinder Heran, said: “Taking part in local democracy begins with one action, registering to vote. This ensures you can help shape the future of your community.
“If you’re planning to vote in person, please remember you’ll need to bring an acceptable form of photographic ID to the polling station. There are plenty of options available, so it’s worth checking early to make sure you’re ready.
“Every vote helps strengthen our local democracy. Make sure you’re prepared, get registered, and have your say.”
