Residents urged to check vital voting information

Residents in Dudley borough are being asked to check their electoral registration details are up to date to ensure they are able to vote in future elections

The annual canvass is now underway in Dudley and will continue over the coming months.

Residents must be on the electoral register to vote in elections and households will be contacted either by email or post asking them to check and confirm their details.

Anyone who has previously registered an email address with electoral services will receive an email from the council with simple steps on how to respond.

If the council doesn't have an email address recorded for any residents in a household, or doesn't receive a response to its email, a paper form will be delivered to the address. Forms will start to be delivered from July 30.

Both email and paper forms will include security codes to complete the process online, by phone or by SMS message.

Some electors will also receive a form to renew their postal vote. The household form will also indicate if an elector needs to renew their postal vote.

Balvinder Heran, chief executive at Dudley Council, said: “It’s important residents keep an eye out for your email or letter so you can check we have the right details on the electoral register for your household.

“Completing the canvass is quick and easy to do and will ensure you are able to have your say at future elections.”

Information about the annual canvass is available at dudley.gov.uk.
