Residents Urged To Get Saving On Energy Bills

With the chilly spring weather continuing Dudley borough residents are being encouraged to join Dudley’s Big Switch to save cash on their energy bills.

With home energy prices continuing to rise the Big Switch offers people the opportunity to join together collectively and get the very best home energy tariff.

The Big Switch is a collective energy switching scheme which brings people together to reduce their energy bills by switching their energy suppliers collectively.  The more people who register; the better the deal offered by the energy companies.

In previous auctions over 5,500 people have registered to switch and in the last auction in February 315 people switched and saved an average £300 per household on their home energy bills.

People can register online or by phone to take advantage of cut price rates offered by energy companies. The closing date for registrations for the May Big Switch is May 16 2016.

The council partners with iChoosr, the UK’s leading expert in collective energy switching, and together they are able to deliver fixed rate tariffs from the big six energy suppliers.

The scheme is open to all householders, including people living in rented accommodation, those with a prepayment meter or people paying for dual fuel or for gas and electricity separately and those with a fuel debt of up to £500 or less. Alan Lunt, strategic director of place, said:

“Our big switch energy auctions have proved extremely popular in the last few years with thousands signing up to take part and savings hundreds of pounds on their energy bills.

"I would encourage borough residents to sign up, there really is nothing to lose and great savings to be made.”
