Part of a busy road in Dudley will be closed for a fortnight next month for essential resurfacing works.
The A4101 High Street in Kingswinford will be closed between Market Street and Standhills Road – on week days only – from January 7 to January 21 between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
Traffic will be diverted via Market Street, Stream Road, Bromley Lane, Standhills Road and vice versa during the works. Three-way temporary traffic lights will also go up on the junctions of Standhills Road and Bromley Lane, and Bromley Lane/Stream Road.
Motorists have been warned to expect delays and advised to seek alternative routes if possible during the short period of the works. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environmental services, said:
"As a council we are very keen to listen to our residents and what their priorities are. Our highways department has received a number of complaints about the state of this particular stretch of road.
"We always want to help out with what people want, and on this occasion I’m pleased that we have been able to. It will cause disruption for a short period of time while the works are being carried out, and we apologise for that. But in the long run it will be for the best.”
Diversion routes, as well as notice of the works, will be clearly signposted.
