Delays are expected on the A449 in Wall Heath after this mornings fire at Hickory's Smokehouse.

Residents were urged to keep windows closed as fourteen fire crews, including two aerial platforms, attend a large blaze on Kidderminster Road in Wall Heath.

The chain have thanked residents for their compassion on Twitter, assuring the public that nobody is injured and thanking West Midlands Fire Service for doing an 'amazing job'.

Crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were the first firefighters to arrive at the smokehouse after an emergency call was made at around 2.30am.

They were joined by at least 10 more teams as smoke billowed out of the roof of the American style restaurant and high into the Black Country sky.

Guests at the next door Kingfisher restaurant and hotel complex were evacuated, while West Midlands Fire Service advised people in the local area to keep their windows closed.

Images tweeted by Oldbury Fire Station this evening showed the extent of the damage to the interior of the building, however crews commented that, subject to a full inspection, they were hopeful the damage may not be as bad as first thought.
