Sessions for people who want to get online

Sandwell Council is participating in a national digital campaign to help more people to get online and learn new digital skills.

They are working with their voluntary sector partners as part of Get Online Week from 14-20 October, a national digital inclusion campaign sponsored by the Good Things Foundation. The council is also running a series of events aimed helping more people get online and learn new digital skills. Councillor Wasim Ali, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for resources and core services, said:

“We are keen to help as many people as possible to get along to these sessions to learn more about the many benefits of being online.

“We find that when people learn how reasonably easy it is to get involved online they soon enjoy using their newly-learned skills for many uses in many areas of their lives.”

The events include:

  • Accessing Council Services Online – Taster workshop, 10am-12noon, Monday 14 October 2019, Wednesbury Town Hall
  • Accessing Council Services Online – Taster workshop, 10am-12noon, Wednesday 16 October 2019, Sandwell Council House, Oldbury
  • Online Mental Health Event – 1pm-3pm, Monday 14 October 2019, Brasshouse Community Centre, Smethwick
  • Friends United Learning Together – Sessions for older people on access and online safety, 9.45am-11.45am and 12.45pm-2.45pm, Thursday 17 October 2019, St Albans Community Centre, Smethwick
