Tickets are about to go on sale for the Severn Valley Railway’s spectacular Steam in Lights services for 2021, running from mid-November through until late December.

The booking office opens at 9.30am on Friday 2nd July, and the leading heritage railway is expecting an early surge in demand as people seek to secure their seats for this festive extravaganza.

This year, Steam in Lights features brand new narration for the exciting family-friendly experience, which begins at the magically-lit Bridgnorth station. There’s a live performance on platform 2 with entertainment from Grandma Cackler and her grandson before the dramatic arrival of the breath-taking steam-hauled train, adorned with tens of thousands of colourful lights.

Before departure, guests will have the opportunity to purchase tasty, festive treats and drinks from the refreshment room to enjoy on their journey.

Once settled in the comfort and warmth of their private compartment or at a socially-distanced table, passengers will embark on a thrilling journey past twinkling scenes, full of lights, forest creatures and mysterious characters, accompanied by music and narration. This year the number and range of line-side displays has been expanded to ensure this is a truly unforgettable experience. Lewis Maddox, events manager at Severn Valley Railway said:

“We’ve already had many enquiries about what the railway is offering for Christmas 2021, so we’re launching Steam in Lights as early as possible and this year is going to be more amazing than ever!

"With even more of the wonderful and magical displays that our visitors enjoyed so much last year, we know this is going to be a popular experience and pre-booking is the only way to make sure of a seat!”

Departures from Bridgnorth are on selected dates between 19th November and 23rd December, with up to three evening departures.  Tickets start at £20 per person, bookable in compartments for up to four or six people, or at socially-distanced tables for two. Carriages will be cleaned regularly and the railway will ensure that all appropriate social distancing restrictions are in place. All bookings are covered by the railway's Covid Guarantee.
