Social landlord awards more than £50,000 in grants

GreenSquareAccord, a social landlord serving the Black Country , supported 29 community projects across the West Midlands and beyond last year, awarding more than £50,000 in grant funding.

The housing association made the funding available through its Community Impact Fund scheme, which is designed to support customer groups, charities, and voluntary and community organisations.

The fund offers grants to projects that benefit GSA’s customers and the neighbourhoods they live in. Last year, GSA awarded a £2,000 grant to It’s a Family Thing CIC to run free activities for families in Wolverhampton, £1,000 to Purposeful Active Living to provide strength and balance classes for older people in Walsall, and a £2,000 grant to Breakthru CIC to support digital inclusion.

Sian Every, Community Investment and Social Value Lead at GSA, said: “It is fantastic to see our Community Impact Fund continue to grow, supporting a diverse range of community organisations and awarding more grants each year.

“Thanks to increased donations from some of our suppliers, as part of their social value commitments, we were able to increase the maximum grant available from £1,000 to £2,000 per project.

“We are grateful to the GSA Customer Panel for judging the applications and to our supply chain partners for their contributions to the funding pot. Their support strengthens the impact we can make together.”

GSA awarded £51,467 through its Community Impact Fund during the 2025–26 financial year—more than double the £20,542 awarded in the previous 12 months.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, the fund supported a wide range of initiatives, including strength and balance classes for older people in Walsall, coached netball sessions for women in Melksham, assisted reading programmes in Oxfordshire, free holiday activities for families in Wolverhampton, and community craft sessions in Gloucester.

The fund has a particular focus on helping GSA customers develop financial and employment skills, improve digital inclusion, and promote health and wellbeing.

GSA owns and manages more than 9,000 social homes across the Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton local authority areas.
