Spring big switch auction to launch

Dudley borough residents are urged to think ahead and sign up to switch and save on their energy bills.

The big switch brings people together to reduce their energy bills by switching their energy suppliers collectively. The more people who register; the better the deal offered by the energy companies.

In previous auctions more than 5,500 people have registered to switch and in the most recent auction in February 315 people switched and saved approximately £300 on average. People can register online or by phone to take advantage of cut price rates offered by energy companies. The closing date for registrations is May 16 2016.

The council partners with iChoosr, the UK’s leading expert in collective energy switching, and together they are able to deliver fixed rate tariffs from the big six energy suppliers.

The scheme is open to all householders, including people living in rented accommodation, those with a prepayment meter or people paying for dual fuel or for gas and electricity separately and those with a fuel debt of up to £500 or less.

Alan Lunt, strategic director of the place directorate at Dudley Council, said:

“Our big switch energy auctions have proved extremely popular in the last few years with thousands signing up to take part and savings hundreds of pounds on their energy bills.  Although the warmer weather is on the way, we should not be complacent, now’s the time to switch and benefit from reduced energy costs now and during the colder months.”
