Stormtroopers set to invade Himley Hall for special Star Wars event

Star Wars fans will be able to meet Stormtroopers at a special event to raise cash for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities at Himley Hall this weekend.

Members of West Midlands Garrison, a group of Star Wars fans, will be dressing up as Darth Vader’s imperial guards between 11am and 2pm on Saturday. It is part of an event which will see Dudley electrician Amor Lamine build pieces from his Lego collection live at the hall throughout the weekend. These pieces will be added to the Amor Star Wars collection currently being exhibited at the historic hall.

Entry is free, and the live build will be on between 11am and 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Fifty exclusive badges have been commissioned to commemorate the event and will be available for a £1 donation. There will also be the opportunity to enter a prize draw on Saturday to win a range of Star Wars items.

All proceeds will go to the chosen charities of the Mayor of Dudley. They are Headway Black Country, White House Cancer Support and The Hope Centre, Halesowen. Councillor Alan Taylor, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

“Star Wars fans will love this exhibition – if you haven’t seen it already, this weekend is a great opportunity with the live build going on. I’d like to thank Amor and everyone behind this for raising money for my charities, and any donations will be gratefully received.”

Amor added: “The reaction to the Lego exhibition has been fantastic so far, and it will be great to add extra pieces to the collection. I hope people will come along and have a look.

"With the Stormtroopers here, kids are welcome to come along in their own Star Wars costumes. Hopefully we will have a lot of fun and raise a decent amount for the Mayor’s charities at the same time.”
