Stourbridge Match Postponed After Frozen Pitch

Stourbridge Football Club's huge FA Cup clash with Northampton was postponed less than two hours before kick off yesterday due to a frozen pitch.

The second round match had been due to kick off at 2pm, but referee Andy Davies called off the game after inspecting the pitch just after midday. He found areas of the ground, lying kn the shadow of stands, were still frozen.

The rearranged tie will now take place on December 13th, subject to any TV requirements, while both clubs will be in the draw for the third round tomorrow.

The teams took to Twitter to apologise to fans who had travelled to the match, with Northampton staff saying they shared the frustration of supporters who had made the 70-mile trip across the Midlands.

Some fans were unhappy that the pitch had not been covered overnight to prevent it from freezing, while one branded the club a 'disgrace'.
