Stourbridge MP visits Russells Hall Hospital Unit

Suzanne Webb visited Russells Hall Hospital on Friday to visit the unit she nominated for an NHS Parliamentary Award.

Suzanne met up with staff from the hybrid theatre she put forward for the national accolade and midwives and consultants from the maternity unit.

Along with the trust’s chief executive, she saw a bereavement room and a low-risk birthing room before moving on to the hybrid theatre. There she was shown the unit’s new surgical robot and she was told how it is enhancing the accuracy of surgery and improving recovery time for patients. Suzanne said:

“Russells Hall is well loved and a very well thought of hospital serving Stourbridge and the surrounding area so I was honoured to visit and nominate the hybrid theatre for the award.

“It was a pleasure to meet dedicated staff at both places and hear about some of the work they do to treat us and bring new life into the world.

“I would like to thank the hospital for inviting me. It is important, I speak with NHS frontline staff regularly and offer my support and congratulations for the work they do, especially in the case of the maternity award following its ‘good rating’ earlier this year.”

Chief executive for The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust Diane Wake added: “I was delighted to welcome Suzanne to the trust and showcase some of the fantastic work our teams are doing to enhance patient care.

“We first visited the maternity unit where she met our dedicated consultants and midwives who talked passionately and proudly about the service they provide, and in particular how their focused work over the last 12 to 18 months led to the unit receiving a Good rating after the CQC visited in April.

“She then went on to visit our hybrid theatre and met the theatre teams who told her how combining an operating environment with imaging capabilities provides a better experience and quality of service to our patients.”
