A woman’s been jailed for attacking and robbing an elderly man in Stourbridge.
Emma Green, 35, approached the man in the town centre on 12 March, asking him for directions, change, and if she could use his phone.
Green then followed him to Prospect Hill where she grabbed his coat, assaulted him, and managed to steal a significant sum of cash, as well as several personal items.
Thankfully the man didn’t suffer serious injuries and after he contacted the Police, Priority Crime and Investigation teams began immediate enquiries.
Officers were quickly able to identify the suspect following a thorough review of CCTV from around the area. Green, of Union Street, was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery, and has been sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court to three years and one month in prison.
Inspector Steven Crowe, from the Dudley Priority Crime Team, said: “This was a callous robbery of an elderly man simply going about his day.
“We are absolutely committed to making Stourbridge the safest place possible for residents and visitors, and ultimately this investigation has seen a violent offender rightfully sent to prison.
“Our teams will continue their relentless work targeting those causing harm in our communities, and we are grateful for any information provided to us.”
This summer, West Midlands Police are working with partners to tackle issues in Stourbridge as part of the national Safer Streets Summer initiative.
