Youngsters can enjoy a range of activities at Dudley Council's leisure centres this summer.

There will be activities and sessions at Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre in Dudley, Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge, Halesowen Leisure Centre and The Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill.

Free swimming for borough children will return to Duncan Edwards and Crystal leisure centres from Friday 22 July to Sunday 4 September. For full terms and conditions or to register for the offer parents can visit www.freeswimindudley.co.uk

Family fun disability swims, which are designed for people with disabilities, special educational needs and ASD, will be held at Duncan Edwards on Wednesdays from 3.45 to 4.45pm and Crystal on Fridays from 2 to 4pm.

The leisure pool at Crystal Leisure Centre will have altered opening hours on Tuesdays throughout August, including an additional family swim session each Tuesday of the month from 5pm to 8pm.

The brand-new Planet Play areas at Duncan Edwards and Halesowen leisure centres will offer soft play sessions for children up to the age of 11 during the summer break. Crystal Leisure Centre’s soft play will also be open for children aged seven and under. People are advised to call in advance to check opening times and availability.

At the Dell Stadium, children aged eight and over can enjoy a kick about on the 3G football pitch for £1 per child or £2 for over 16s. The facility is available Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 4pm, and the activity is not instructor led or supervised. Youngsters are asked to bring their own football and must wear appropriate football boots.
Children aged three to nine can get crafty this summer with arts and crafts sessions at Crystal Leisure Centre. The sessions, which must be pre-booked, take place on Wednesday 3, 10 and 24 August from 1.30 to 3pm and cost £5.50 per child.

Table-tennis and badminton is available at Duncan Edwards and Crystal leisure centres throughout the week for children aged eight years and above. The activity is not a coaching session and is unsupervised. People are advised to contact the centres for availability. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

"As part of the borough-wide Child Friendly Dudley initiative, we know it takes everyone to raise a child and that’s why our centres will be helping young ones to keep busy and active over the summer break.

"There is a fantastic range of activities on offer and we are very excited to offer additional family swim sessions including sessions for families with children with disabilities.

"We expect to be very busy so we’re asking people to book where appropriate and always check times and details before heading to their centre."
