A supermarket in Pensnett has been given retrospective planning permission by Dudley Council planners who allowed a change of use application.

The store, on High Street, was part of premises which housed two hot food takeaways.

Dudley Council planners have given the go-ahead for a change of use application for one takeaway to remain while the other part can operate as a 100sq.m store.

Planners imposed conditions including that the takeaway can only open between 11am and 11pm while the store can open from 7am to 11pm.

Planners have also received an application to convert a storage area in a grade II listed building in Dudley into two residential apartments.

The council will have to give listed building consent for the conversion on the upper floors of  212-214 High Street.

A statement in support of the application said: “We believe the proposals identified in this application illustrate a sustainable, high quality, locally needed facility which will provide much needed ‘top class’ accommodation within the district area.”

Dudley Planners have also been asked to give their approval for work to begin on a block containing a retail unit and 14 new apartments, also on High Street in Dudley.

The application was first approved in 2019 with conditions relating to work that was required before construction began.

The conditions were met and a trench was dug for foundations which the applicant says proves work had begun before the three year time limit on planning permission expired.

Council planners are now being asked by the developer to issue a lawful development certificate for the project which would allow construction to get under way.

An application has been submitted for a change of permission to create new flats on the site of a derelict pub in Brierley Hill.

The Plough on Church Street was set to be converted into three apartments after permission was granted in 2025 but planners have now been asked by STSK Consulting Ltd to extend the permission to four flats.

A plan for four flats on the site of the pub, which is no longer locally listed, was approved in 2014.

In a statement supporting the application, STSK Consulting Ltd said: “The external appearance of the building will remain unchanged from the approved 2025 scheme. No new windows, doors, cladding, or roof alterations are proposed.”
