Suspect charged after weapons and drugs seized in Wolverhampton

A 28-year-old man has been charged with drug and weapons offences after officers arrested a man from a car in the early hours at Bentley Bridge, Wolverhampton.

Leon Carter has been charged with possession of a firearm, possessing Class A and Class B drugs with intent to supply, and possessing two offensive weapons

It comes after officers detained a man after a car was seen parked up with its engine running at just before 2am on Saturday morning.

On searching the vehicle quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis were recovered. A further search, at a property in the Parkfields area, saw a Taser, machete and a knuckleduster being seized.

Carter has been held in police custody and was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday.
