Suspected Class A drugs lab discovered in Sandwell

Police in Sandwell have discovered a suspected Class A drugs production lab and made a series of arrests in Smethwick.

Officers initially acted on information and worked with partners to swoop on a shop in High Street yesterday morning (Wednesday).

A force spokesperson said: "We recovered suspected Class A drugs and arrested four people on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

"Subsequent enquiries from our Sandwell Proactive Crime Team led us to a property off St Paul's Road, Smethwick. There we've discovered a range of equipment used in the production of drugs across various rooms and detained two others.

"Five men and a women - aged between 20 and 49 - are now in custody for questioning.

"Drugs ruin lives and also fuel further crime. We're taking regular action across Sandwell to shut down illegal drug lines. We'll always seek to identify those involved and pursue prosecution action."
