The Accession Proclamation to be read in Dudley

Residents are invited to attend the regional reading of the Accession Proclamation by the Mayor of Dudley at 1pm in Dudley.

King Charles III’s succession to the throne was proclaimed at the Accession Council yesterday with the Principal Proclamation read at 11am in London.

The Mayor of Dudley will read the regional Accession Proclamation this afternoon at 1pm.

This will take place on the steps of the Council House on Priory Road in Dudley. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

A blessing will be given by the Bishop of Dudley, Martin Gorick.

Flags will then return to half-mast until the day after the funeral. Councillor Sue Greenaway, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

“This is a significant moment in our country’s history, and it is an honour to read the regional proclamation on behalf of the people of Dudley borough.

“Although we are a nation in mourning, this is a moment for us come together and mark our new Sovereign’s succession to the throne.

“Dudley Performing Arts will perform God Save the King and I will ask people to join me in giving three cheers for His Majesty the King.”
