Thousands Turn Out For Himley Bonfire

Dudley Council celebrated its 40th Bonfire anniversary in style tonight as thousands turned out to enjoy the event.

People flocked from across the region to enjoy the festivities on a beautifully cold and crisp autumn night.

The celebrations featured music and entertainment, the hall’s biggest ever bonfire and a fireworks spectacular set to momentous music. The Thomas Jones’ giant funfair and seasonal refreshments were also on offer.

Over 1,500 wooden pallets were used to build the bonfire and two kilometres of fuse wise was used to electronically spark the impressive fireworks delay. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:

“Himley Bonfire was a huge success once again and the fireworks as always were spectacular.

"I’d like to thank everyone who came and all those working on the event for making it our best yet.”
