Police in Walsall are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the town.

Officers were called to Stafford Street at around 8.30am yesterday morning after a man received a number of stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Police quickly arrested a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in custody as they continue with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Jason Fowler said: “We would like to speak to witnesses especially people who have mobile phone or dashcam footage of the incident.

"Anyone with any information should call us on 101 quoting log number 1144 of 2 July. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Extra officers will be in the area over the coming days to offer reassurance to the community.
