Two police officers injured at Halesowen address

Two police officers have been injured after they were called to an address in Halesowen this morning.

Police attended Crimmond Rise at around 3:15am to check on the welfare of a man.

Two officers were assaulted and a man barricaded himself inside a second floor flat with an elderly occupant.

Force negotiators were called to the location and around 8:30am a man in his 20s was arrested.

A 79-year-old man was treated for minor injuries and the two police officers are being treated for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

A number of flats in the three-story complex were evacuated while we dealt with the incident.

There will be an increase in officers on patrol in the area today to offer reassurance to local residents.
