People are being invited to have their say on plans to create Public Space Protection Orders to tackle anti-social behaviour in two borough town centres.
The orders, if implemented, would cover the area around Dudley town centre and Castlegate, and Stourbridge town centre and Wollaston.
It would give the police and the council extra powers over a three-year period to stop groups and individuals causing nuisance, alarm, harassment or distress to others.
Residents, shoppers, visitors and businesses are invited to give their feedback on the plans as the council needs to consult with people in the area as part of the PSPO application process.
People are also being asked to have their say on proposals to implement a borough-wide PSPO to address anti-social vehicle use.
The consultation is being run through the Safe & Sound Dudley website, where people can view draft orders, see maps of the proposed areas, and complete a short online form to share their views.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “We want everyone who lives, works and visits Dudley borough to feel safe and supported.
“These proposed PSPOs are part of our commitment to tackle antisocial behaviour and to respond to what communities are telling us about local concerns.
“This consultation gives people a real say before any decisions are made.”
Gillian Davenport, Chief Superintendent for Dudley Police, added: “We fully support the proposed plans for PSPOs in Dudley as part of our efforts to drive down anti-social behaviour.
“The orders will give us extra powers to tackle these issues and failure to comply with the order can result in a fine or a fixed penalty notice. We hope that residents take part in the consultation and support our ongoing partnership work.”
