Volunteers Needed For Acorns Halesowen Distribution Centre

A children’s charity is on the hunt for volunteers at its Halesowen donation centre to help support its network of over 50 shops.

Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care and support to children and their families across the Midlands, recently opened the centre on Mucklow Hill Trading Estate.

The charity now needs dedicated volunteers to help sort through the more than 2,000 bags that will pass through the centre’s doors every week before they are distributed to its network of shops across the region. Kevin Ives, Head of Retail at Acorns urged those interested to get in touch. He said:

“This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic individuals who want to lend a hand and help us get the right product to the right shop at the right time.

“You can help us ensure that we continue to operate a fully efficient and well-oiled retail machine, which in turn helps us raise the funds we need to help give children and their families invaluable support.”

The network of Acorns shops raises around £1.5million per year, which helps to meet the running costs of the hospices, which stands at nearly £10 million per year.

Donating good quality items including clothing, shoes, toys, books, CDs and DVDs and household goods is a quick way to support Acorns and all profits made go directly back to the charity.

If you are interested in volunteering at the donation centre, please contact andrew.hopcroft@acorns.org.uk or call 0121 585 8852.
