Waterfront road to close for Metro works

A main road at the Waterfront will close for eight weeks next month as part of work on the Metro extension to Brierley Hill.

Waterfront Way, near to the Brierley Hop House, will close on Monday March 9 as phase two of construction of the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro route continues.

The road is currently closed heading south toward Merry Hill but the Northern stretch will also be shut off.

The Midland Metro Alliance has issued a notice to employees at the Waterfront.

They said: "The road will close between the roundabout at The Gateway, and the private car park entrance just before Waterfront Way East to allow us to install ducting and drainage and bring the required equipment across the highway.

"A clearly signposted diversion route will be in place during the work.

"Please note, the start date of this activity - Monday 9 March - is correct at the time of writing but is dependent on the utility works which are currently underway completing on schedule."
