Wombourne tandoori chef honoured at prestigious curry awards

A Wombourne tandoori chef is celebratIng after being crowned Chef of the Year at the prestigious Curry Life Awards.

Rafique Miah of Wombourne Tandoori achieved the accolade amongst tough competition from renowned chefs representing restaurants across the UK.

The accolade comes after his restaurant was named Curry Life’s ‘Restaurant of the Year’ in 2023. 

Mr Miah was formally presented with his award 2025 by Mike Wood MP, Member of Parliament for Kingswinford and South Staffordshire.

Mr Wood said: “Wombourne Tandoori is a real staple of the local community.

“Since relocating my constituency office next door to the restaurant, Rafique and the team have made me feel very welcome whenever I have visited, consistently serving top-quality, delicious and authentic cuisine.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to Rafique on this incredible achievement, and I look forward to my next visit.”

Wombourne Tandoori has been serving authentic Bangladeshi dishes for over 35 years since and has recently expanded operations by opening a new restaurant in Kingswinford.

Mr Miah added: “It’s an honour to have been awarded ‘Best Chef of the Year 2025’ and I want to say thank you to Curry Life Magazine for recognising me in this way.

“Customers have been congratulating me all week – I’ve even been told that I’m now a local celebrity chef!”
